Known as the Santero de Albuquerque, Roberto is an International Award Winning artist known for his museum quality and cutting-edge style in Santo Making, Spanish Colonial Furniture, Sculpture, and Tin Work. He has won numerous awards, many being Best of Shows. His work is in several Church & Museum Permanent Collections, including the Vatican. His REREDOS ( Altar Screen ) for the victims of 9/11 was named a NATIONAL TREASURE for 2004, being selected as one of America's Top 100 TREASURES by Art & Antiques magazine. He was also the cover story for MEMO, an International Japanese Interior Design Magazine for his unique style of Spanish Colonial and Southwest Style Furniture. Considered a master in furniture construction and design, he will also be the topic of a book entitled World Masters by the same Japanese publisher. His paintings, retablos, and bultos of Our Lady of Guadalupe will also be featured on an upcoming PBS special. Besides the Galleria you can see Roberto's work at the annual Spanish Markets in Santa Fe in July and December. He is juried in for the following art categories: Furniture, Retablos, Bultos, and Tinwork. He can also be seen at the Heard Museum in Phoenix the second weekend of November.
