NEW MEXICAN RETABLOS: Spanish Colonial Retablos are religious icons painted on pine wood. The wood can be a smooth surface, handcarved, and hand adzed. The retablos are painted with homemade gesso and natural pigments, egg tempra or waterbased pigments.Usually sealed with homemade pinon sap varnish, sealers, or beeswax finishes. MADE IN NEW MEXICO, USA. We have the largest collection of Museum Quality Retablos in the country. Not all are lsted on the website. If you are looking for a particular saint we may already have it.
