BULTOS: Bultos are santos carved in the round usually with cottonwood root or pine wood.They are a Spanish Colonial Art form developed by spanish laypeople during the 18th and 19th centuries of New Spain, (Spanish New Mexico, USA). They are painted with either homemade gesso or acrylic gesso, homemade natural pigments, acrylic watercolors, or waterbased pigments.
